HICAPS was the Design-Build General Contractor for this project, which included a 1.87 MW solar photovoltaic system that is up and operating at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. HICAPS teamed with REC Solar (Los Angeles, CA) to create this design-build project, the 2nd largest PV field in Virginia. The PV system is tied into the campus’s electrical grid and provides 11% of the electricity used at the hospital.  The solar system was installed over a closed landfill which provided some unique challenges, however it was a great use of unusable land. The total cost of this project was $5 million.
