HICAPS was the General Contractor for this project, which included general construction work for installation of a decorative perimeter security fence for the North perimeter of the Salem VA Medical Center along Roanoke Boulevard. There was also installation/replacement of sections of chain link fence and installation of gates at designated locations. Masonry pilasters were put in place to enhance appearance of the fence. They also included a guard house at the Western entrance road along with reconfiguration of an existing traffic island to include tree-cutting and grubbing. Traffic control measures to minimize interruption of Medical Center traffic were installed, along with electrical components and surveillance equipment that included security cameras. The total cost of this project was $971,000.
