Building Testing and Inspection Services after Hurricane Florence
Following Hurricane Florence, HICAPS, Inc. was asked by the General Services Administration to complete building diagnostics for the Almeric L. Christian Federal Building and Courthouse in St. Croix, USVI, in the summer of 2022. This included travel, set up, breakdown, testing, and report generation for aluminum-framed entrances, enclosures, storefronts, and window air and water penetration testing. This also included skylight and window sealant testing.
Joint sealants were also tested on pull distance and type of tear. The results from these tests were used to determine if adhesion passes the sealant manufacturer’s test criteria and to verify the sealant joint cavities were free of voids, that the dimensions and configurations comply with specified requirements, and that the sealants connected to the pulled-out portion tore cohesively. These diagnostics were completed according to International Building Codes and AAMA/WDMA standards.
