Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) 700MHz Radio System Project
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) 700MHz Radio Communications System Project consists of an above ground 700 MHz Project 25 (P25) radio system integrated with a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) below ground network. The above ground segment consists of a Master and Backup site with 28 RF sites in a single simulcast cell to include 3 dispatch control centers. The DAS below ground network is fed by 3 RF sites and provides 700 MHz and 800 MHz coverage below ground. The system required deployment of over 5,000 new portable and mobile subscribers to WMATA personnel and installation in fleet vehicles and railcars.
HICAPS was contracted by Motorola Solutions to provide Program Management and Construction Management services in support of this project. HICAPS provided professional services for CPM scheduling, quality & test program management, safety management, and project management services for system deployment for above ground radio sites, below ground tunnel sites, and radio subscribers. Through our GC at-risk construction services, HICAPS constructed 11 Collocated radio tower sites, 2 greenfield radio tower sites, and the Master/Core site.
